This was after the researchers in Taiwan managed to develop it using silk proteins from spiders.The result of the development of the electronic paper will be very useful in the future. According to study leader, Jenn-Chang Hwang from the National Tsing Hua University, the use of silk is not only flexible, but also make better transistor performance. "Moreover, the silk is cheap, 3 cents per appliance," said Hwang.
He and his team managed to change the fluid silk proteins into the membrane that can be used as a thin transistor display. Today, screens are usually made of silicon that are stored in glass so it is not flexible.
The researchers and companies trying to commercialize electronic paper maker their homemade products. However, recognized by Hwang, still need to take two to three more years before silk-based products appeared.
